Terms of Service
Effective date: June 4, 2026. These terms apply to the Scenica website, browser extension, and related learning services.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of Scenica, including the website, browser extension, learning pages, account features, and related services. By using Scenica, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Scenica.
2. What Scenica Provides
Scenica helps English learners create study materials from real-world videos, captions, transcripts, imported text, vocabulary, expressions, quizzes, and review workflows.
The browser extension helps users import supported video or transcript content into Scenica. The website then organizes that content into learning pages and review tools.
3. Accounts and Access
You may need an account to use certain features. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
Scenica may use memberships, redemption codes, trials, or invite-based access during the MVP stage. Access rules may change as the product evolves.
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe an account is being misused, used for abuse, or used in violation of these Terms.
4. User Content
You are responsible for any video links, subtitles, transcripts, text, notes, profile assets, or other content you submit, import, upload, or generate through Scenica.
You confirm that you have the rights or permissions needed to use the content you submit or import. Scenica does not grant you rights to third-party videos, captions, or media.
You grant Scenica the limited rights needed to host, process, store, analyze, display, and transmit your content for the purpose of operating and improving the service.
Submitting or importing content does not guarantee that it will be listed, recommended, published, or kept publicly available in Scenica discovery surfaces.
5. Third-Party Content and Platforms
Scenica may work with content from third-party platforms such as video websites. Those platforms are not controlled by Scenica and may have their own terms, policies, and technical restrictions.
You are responsible for complying with the rules of any third-party platform whose content you choose to view, import, or study through Scenica.
Scenica does not own or endorse third-party videos, captions, brands, logos, or platform content shown or referenced in the product.
6. Browser Extension
The Scenica browser extension is intended to support user-initiated learning workflows on supported pages. You may not use it to scrape, copy, distribute, bypass access controls, or misuse third-party content.
Extension features may change as browser store policies, supported platforms, or Scenica product requirements change.
7. AI-Generated Learning Materials
Scenica uses AI to generate or assist with summaries, vocabulary explanations, translations, quiz prompts, transcript views, and other learning materials.
AI-generated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. Scenica is an educational aid, not a professional translation, legal, academic, medical, or certification service.
You should independently review important explanations, translations, or conclusions before relying on them.
8. Acceptable Use
You may not use Scenica to break the law, infringe intellectual property rights, violate privacy rights, distribute malware, attack or overload the service, bypass access restrictions, reverse engineer the product, or interfere with other users.
You may not upload or import content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, harmful to minors, or otherwise unsafe for an educational product.
You may not upload, import, publish, or share content that promotes harassment, self-harm, violence, illegal activity, non-consensual sexual content, child exploitation, impersonation, spam, scams, or content that violates another person's rights.
You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Scenica outputs or features without written permission.
9. Content Review and Moderation
Scenica may review, classify, limit, reject, unlist, make private, remove, or delete content when we believe it violates these Terms, creates legal or safety risk, is unsuitable for an educational product, infringes rights, contains low-quality or misleading material, or may harm the product experience.
We may also remove content from public discovery while keeping it private to the importing user, when appropriate.
We are not obligated to publish or continue hosting any user-submitted or imported content in public areas.
10. Payments, Trials, and Redemption Codes
During the MVP stage, Scenica may provide access through redemption codes, trials, manual invitations, or early-access arrangements.
Specific payment, renewal, refund, and cancellation terms may be provided separately if paid plans are introduced. If separate payment terms conflict with these Terms, the more specific payment terms control.
11. Service Changes and Availability
Scenica is an evolving MVP product. We may add, modify, limit, or remove features at any time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent storage of every item, or compatibility with every browser, device, video platform, or third-party website.
12. Intellectual Property
Scenica, including its product design, software, branding, interface, and original product materials, is owned by Scenica or its licensors.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of Scenica intellectual property to you. You may use Scenica only as permitted by these Terms.
13. Disclaimers
Scenica is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
You use Scenica at your own discretion and risk.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scenica will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from your use of the service.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Scenica evolves. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of Scenica after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
